# Fall 2020
Welcome to my series where I take a personal look as I interview people and organizations to get their perspective on how their efforts impact and ultimately makes the Town of Parker the fantastic place that it is.
From their website:
"The District uses the most advanced water treatment technologies to remove pollutants. The wastewater plants are designed to remove not only conventional pollutants, but also algae promoting nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. The removal is accomplished by the biological process (activated sludge) and the use of Advanced Water Treatment Filters. Wastewater is treated to permit specifications determined by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPH&E) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). PWSD tests for over two dozen different pollutants on a routine basis testing and analyzing the community’s water quality."
The North Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) currently is going through a $60 million dollar expansion. Right now between this facility and another one in Parker, they are treating 3.0 1.6 million gallons of waste water a day. The first phase of the NWRF expansion is currently underway. They are planning for a second phase, should they need it, now in order to save on future costs. This project should be completed in a year.
Other items:
With more people staying home during Covid-19, they have seen a 75,000 gallon increase of waste water use per day.
The current Future expansion will treat up to 4 million gallons a day at the North Wastewater Reclamation Facility, for a total of 6 million combined.
Potential second phase will allow for 6 million gallons a day at the North Wastewater Reclamation Facility with a total of 8 million combined.
